چکیده
High costs of imported bleaching earths have led to the need for alternative local sources. The effectiveness acid-activated Achalla clay in crude palm oil was examined. sample collected, sun-dried, manually ground, and activated with hydrochloric acid solution. Characterization raw samples carried out using X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analyses. factors that were varied during process temperature, contact time, adsorbent dosage. adsorption kinetics, isotherm, thermodynamics studies also investigated. XRF, SEM, FTIR characterization results showed clays kaolinites some significant increase number microporous surfaces changes functional groups. indicated performance improved at higher temperatures. highest efficiency 85.6%. pseudo-first-order model described from experimental data correlation coefficients than pseudo-second-order, first-order, Intra-particle diffusion models. equilibrium isotherm better by Temkin Langmuir Freundlich models due R2 values. enthalpy entropy values determined be 26,968.12 J/mol 78.2273 respectively. Gibb’s free energy found vary between -1.428.39 1,700.70 J/mol. thermodynamic parameters it a spontaneous chemical endothermic. This study has revealed can used

In Vitro Antioxidative Evaluation of α- and β-Carotene, Isolated from Crude Palm Oil
The present work describes the isolation of α - and β -carotene from crude palm oil and their antioxidant potential in an in vitro model. Pure product was isolated by the method adopted. Antioxidant activities of the isolated α - and β -carotene were analyzed in five different concentrations of 0.001, 0.005, 0.01, 0.05, and 0.1% (w/v). From the several assays conducted, an observation was made ...

In this study, the diffusivity and volumetric mass transfer coefficients for the extraction of β-carotene from crude palm oil using CO2 solvent in supercritical fluid were determined in the pressure range of 7.5-17.5 MPa and temperature range of 80-120 ºC. For this purpose, a statistical method was applied in order to minimize the number of experiments required. The volumetric ma...
متن کاملAdsorption of Malachite Green from Aqueous Solution using Activated Ntezi Clay: Optimization, Isotherm and Kinetic Studies
The adsorption of malachite green from aqueous solution using a local low cost adsorbent, acid activated Ntezi clay, was investigated. The low cost adsorbent was activated with different concentrations of sulphuric acid and the physicochemical properties of the adsorbent were determined and the structural properties were analyzed using XRF and XRD. The adsorption process was studied as a functi...

متن کاملHedging Effectiveness of Crude Palm Oil Futures Market in Malaysia
This paper investigated the hedging effectiveness of crude palm oil futures market in Malaysia from January 2009 to June 2011 which traded under Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Berhad. Ordinary Least Squared (OLS) method was used to compute Minimum-Variance hedging ratio (MVHR), R-squared and hedging effectiveness by using daily data from settlement price of crude palm oil futures contracts and spot...
